Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The shadow knows!
He was the quintessential pulp hero. A wealthy genius and martial arts master like Batman and Doc Savage, but Lamont Cranston’s unique skill was the power to cloud men’s minds. He could be invisible. His twin blazing revolvers proving that the weed of crime bears bitter fruit.

Bride of Death
The Prophet of The Ancient Ones steals the reverend’s daughter, Isobel Colby, filling the local village with rumors of heathen rites up at the castle. The evil Hindoo has some mystic hold over the wealthy Miss Akley who owns the castle, and Isobel is to become “The Bride of Death” unless The Shadow’s power to cloud minds can out-match the hypnotic powers of The Prophet!
Death Prowls at Night
A man rumored to be a werewolf mesmerizes Margot Lane into visiting his sanatorium. She is soon seen wandering the fields with a huge wolf! Luckily, The Shadow’s powers of hypnotism are stronger!
Gibbering Things, The
A mad scientist breeds blood-drinking ‘things’ deep in the woods. They are immune to Cranston’s mind tricks, and he’s locked in a room with a hundred of them!
Mark of the Bat, The
Dr. Vickers trains bats to kill under the guise of vampirism in order to achieve his step-father’s fortune. Can the shadow stop him before he throws young Claire and Margot Lane into The Well of the Bats? Motif #1
Seance with Death
Consuelo’s father is killed by a criminal racket he was about to crack. After the inheritance, her psychiatrist and a psychic have her convinced her mother’s lonely spirit killed him! The Swami (and her father’s spirit) convince her lawyer to sign over the money. When the Shadow investigates, the Doc gives her a post-hypnotic suggestion to kill Lamont Cranston! (It is repeatedly stated in this episode that Spiritualism is a legitimate religion …as if Mutual feared it might get sued by a psychic association!)
Three Ghosts, The
When the Shadow gets wind of a grifter scamming an old lady out of her fortune, he threatens to kill the criminal. Then two old buddies from prison show up looking to speed up the rip-off process for themselves. The Shadow clouds a criminal’s mind into running down one of his compatriots in a car, killing him! I had no idea The Shadow could induce hallucinations, too! (Talk about “The Dark Knight!” Geez!)
Witch of the Crescent Moon, The
Only half of this episode remains. A woman goes a little crazy during the crescent moon and starts burning barns.
My mother and her sisters told me about a radio show that they listened too as children (1930’s). One part she talked about was the sound of body parts dropping and the sound it made when it hit the floor. Hilarious to me. Trying to find the show. “One arm dropped…BOOM, then the other arm…BOOM, then a leg or foot falling down the stairwell.” All I can remember her saying is “The Shadow Knows”. Can you help me find it?
